DIY Home Quest!

I am super excited about the Dream home update!

I've just started the first quest peaceful patios which unlocks patios!

Some of the changes in the game are instantaneous like the new ability to build hallways, one square wide, and doors and windows can now be placed next to walls and each other. Multiple buildings on the same plot can now be different heights.

Others like patios, balconies, and basements need to be unlocked in quests!

These quests do appear to be timed with prizes - including unlocking a makeout couch - it's unclear at this point if the DIY house will be a prize or if we are merely visiting.

The photos you are seeing, are of the DIY house and not a house of my design but a preview of what's to come for those who haven't started or downloaded the new updates.

I repeat I do not claim credit for the house design above  - I would've done a much better basement - is a product of a designer at The Sims Freeplay.

That's not to say you couldn't use it as inspiration in the future...

Latin Villa

The Sims freeplay quest "A Dance to Remember Quest" comes with some nice prizes. First it unlocks the dancing hobbies and second it unlocks the much requested throw rugs... Although if you're like me, you might find you can't use the rugs because you don't utilize the social aspect and therefore have no social points.

Also if you complete the quest within the time limit you unlock the Latin villa-- which I was not able to unlock but I assume even if I had it still would've cost social points or an extraordinary amount of life points.

But I will soon be building my first premium plot ( I'm saving up the simoleons for it) and it will be inspired by the layout of the house I could not unlock and probably couldn't afford. Although the decor will differ.

But I just thought I'd post the Latin villa, for those who haven't done the quest yet and wanted a sneak preview. As well as a heads up that there is a time limit.

And for individuals like myself who didn't care about the time limit because they couldn't afford to buy it anyway and maybe want to create their own twist on it.

Kinda Normal

This house is kinda tame; slightly inspired by my real life house layout but modified to adhere to the construction limitations of Sims Freeplay. Which is to say, at my house I can look out a living room window to see who is approaching the front door...and my visitors enter through a dining room.

After entering through dining/kitchen combo, the living room is directly left.

Both the kitchen and living room open to a central hallway where you'll find a bathroom and two bedrooms.

2 Story Standard

Todd Jones keeps Osirus company, reading on the couch, as the alien grows increasingly agitated with me taking advantage of a rare, untimed quest.

My first two story house since completing the multi-story quest. Exterior is Blackstone and Red tile roof.

Enter through central hall. See formal dining space with comfortable kitchen with room for expansion.

Opposite is a large luxury living space. Plenty of seating in front of the fire or the TV. Bathroom easily located at the far end of the hall.

2 Bedrooms are located upstairs, each with its own private study/hobby space.

Also notice the hall along the girl's side, has space for an extra door. Which could turn a two-bedroom (with studies,) into a 3 bedroom house.

Neo something

Inspired by the Neo-Tokyo layout, but custom to my tastes.

Exterior of the house is dark grey brick and blue scale roof.

Enter through the front hall/den, complete with all the things required to kick back and relax. Or go toward the living room with plenty of seating for visitors. Bathroom conveniently off living space and near the child's room. Kitchen has view of a modest backyard, but room enough for swing set.

Master bedroom in back of house has private garden access and personal bathroom.

Standard Plot Residence

This is one of my first houses after the restart. It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 story built on a standard plot.

On the outside it has Worn White Planks with a Blue Roof.

They've long since updated the game to make sure the nicest decor is locked into higher levels so I decided to boldly work with that Yellow Carpet, which I'd previously considered an eyesore. I've matched it to the Blue(with gold)Striped wallpaper and the only couch with a yellow cushion.

The bedrooms are located at the back of the house, two doorways offer easy access to the kitchen and den. Hardwood floors and earthy furniture make all other colors pop. Roses offer a nice little embellishment on either side of the tiny TV.

It's a near perfect starter home for a small family...Near perfect because I didn't leave room in the bathroom for a tub which my toddler needs to bathe... But there is room for expansion.

Intro

I'm a bored shut in, who enjoys book blogging and playing The Sims Freeplay on my Kindle Fire HDX.

I'm starting this blog because I recently had a catastrophic incident with my Kindle; meaning total reset. Luckily bought and paid for downloads are stored in the cloud, but game progress is not...So I lost a large amount of data including supersweet houses I built. The more outstanding ones can be built from memory but mostly I am starting from scratch.

So I thought I'd post my favorite house designs to this blog in the event of a major melt down, I'd have ideas right where I need them. Please don't take this blog to seriously, as I doubt I will use it too often, but if you like an idea feel free to follow along.
